Batcheller & Company. The business wasestablished in Paris, where Mr. Thomson began the manufacture of corsets, but at theoutbreak of the Franco-Prussian war the plant was removed to London, England. Ipto 1877 all of the product of the concern was manufactured in London and imported to theUnited States, but in order to save duty on the imported goods a factory was built in. WILLIAM H. As indieated, thoroughly mastered the business in every detail as well as in its major pointsand such was his treatment of his employes that no strike ever occurred in his factory. Hewas thorongldy just and when there was any diflerence of opinion between himself and hisemployes ho was always ready and willing to discuss the matter thoroughly with them andin this way he brought about a satisfactory adjustment of the trouble.
