Los Angeles International Airport. Satellite image of the buildings and runways that form Los Angeles International Airport, California, USA. North is at top right. Also known by its airport code LAX, this is the primary airport serving the city of Los Angeles. It is one of the busiest airports in the world. It is located on the Pacific coast (sea and beach seen at top left). There are 4 runways (2 seen either side of the central buildings), the longest of which is kilometres long. There are nine terminal buildings, forming the square shape just below and right of centre. The airport dates from 1928. Image taken by the Ikonos satellite on 4 August 2003.
