This is a sealed sample of dust collected from “Ground Zero.” However, it also represents a public health threat since the dust contained a variety of toxic substances. Many New York Fire Department rescue workers reported respiratory problems, called the “WTC cough,” after inhaling the dust while rescuing or recovering the victims of the attack.
