A similar copy exists in the IMagliabecchi Library, Florence, which hasbeen quoted in Demmins Arms and Armour, but this only contains the textand the Armourers marks and has none of the illustrations. It may, therefore, be surmised that eitherthe Florentine copy is the roughdraft, or that it is a late copy ofthe work under consideration,which is obviously the completedtreatise. The preface, of the usualsycophantic order in fashion atthis period, is succeeded by adissertation on iron, the countriesin which it is found, and themethods of tempering and work-ing it. In discussing this questionPetrini states that he intends to givethe marks of all armourers, but the magnitude of the task has evidently
