The tonnage of manytrains has grown to such proportions that they are beyond Drilled and ffea/ned in Place. These 10-wheel switching lo-comotives are the largest and heaviest non-articulatedswitchers ever built. The driving wheels all have flanged tires 5^ in. wideand in order to keep the wheel base at a minimum, are madeas small in diameter as practicable. With 51-in. diameterdriving wheels spaced as closely as posible, the total wheelbase is only 19 ft. and these locomotives can pass over curvesof 14 deg. without the use of lateral motion driving boxes. The steam pressure is 185 lb. per sq. in. and the cylin-ders are 27 in. in diamet
