So urgent was the neces-sity for troops at the front early in 1861,and so limited was the quantity on handof the regular army uniform, and sodifficult to obtain, that many of ourvolunteer companies were forced to goto war wearing their city uniforms,and some of them received their firstbaptism of fire and won fame in theirhome dress. {To be Continued.).
