The round Saxon tower of St Mary's Church, Burnham Deepdale in Norfolk, UK


Round towers are a unique feature of East Anglia where there are 175 still surviving from the Saxon and Norman periods. the round tower at Burnham Deepdale, Norfolk, is definitely Saxon, about 950 years old, with Saxon belfry windows. The base of the tower is 6 inches thicker than the rest of the tower up to a height of 10 feet.
