The Royal Navy Merlin HC4 helicopter took part in the commando assault demonstration at the RNAS Yeovilton Air Day, UK held on the 13th July 2019.

Two Royal Navy Merlin Mk4 helicopters were used in the operation to end the attempted hijack of the Nave Andromeda oil tanker off the east coast of the Isle of Wight, UK on the evening of the 25th October 2020. The aircraft provided a platform for members of the Special Boat Service to fast rope directly onto the deck of the ship, allowing them to successfully overwhelm and then detain the stowaways / hijackers.
