Iceland, Kirkjubaejarklaustur, 2011: The aftermath of the volcanic eruption in Grimsvotn, Vatnajokull glacier, Iceland. Firefighters are washing the volcanic ash off the houses in the affected area. Kirkjubaejarklaustur town was one of the hardest hit by the volcanic ash, although most of the ash had already been blown away in the strong winds. The last eruption in Grimsvotn occurred in November 2004. Grimsvotn is Iceland's most frequently erupting volcano.
