Title page, Orontii/Quadrans Astrolabicus Omnibus, with celtic knotwork border, 1534, printed by Oronce Finé

The titlepage from a 1534 mathematical text-book by Oronce Finé, who may also have made the design. Inserted into the border are various figures representing astronomy (or astrology), music, geography, arithmetic, Pythagoras, Orpheus (?), Euclid and, at the bottom right, the printer Aldus Manutius. The original book was printed in Paris in 1534, at the printing-office of Simon De Colines. Reproduced in "Die Bücher-Ornamentik Der Renaissance" by A. F. Butsch, Leipzig, 1881.
