It is very distinct in appearance, being much stouter, thicker and heavier near the root than any other variety. Four stalks in a bunch weighed thirteen and a quarter pounds, and entirely covered the top of an ordinary flour barrel. This celery has never shown a burnt or dry leaf or a soft or spongy stalk in the most trying seasons. It surpasses other celeries in keeping qualites, having for a few years past been sold in other markets as late as May, after Golden Dwarf and all other varieties were done. Silvery white with waxy, golden yellow heart; solid, fine flavored, and one of the best keepers. Yz oz. 9c; oz. 16c; % lb. 45c. 9°7—Kalamazoo Broad Ribbed. This is pronounced by the few gardners who have been fortunate enough to obtain seed: "The most perfect type of Dwarf White celery ; It is very distinet and handsome, of a beautiful creamy white color throughout, attains a very large size, of quick growth; stiff, close habit, is remarkably solid, crisp eating and finely flavored. Ribs are very broad., thickly and closely set, while by reason of its neat growth and showy appearance, it is especially valuable variety for market. It is also a first-class keeper, remaining fit for use as long as the Golden Dwarf and other good keeping sorts.
