La parte Occidentale della Nuova Francia o Canada. Artist/engraver/cartographer: Antonio Zatta. Provenance: "Atlante Novissimo, illustrato ed accresciuto sulle osservazioni, e scoperte fatte dai piu' celebri e piu' recenti geografi", in Venezia MDCCLXXXII, presso Antonio Zatta con privilegio dell' Eccellmo Senato. Type: Antique 18th century Italian copperplate map with original hand colour. "The western part of New France or Canada". The map shows part of western Quebec and north eastern Ontario between James Bay, the northern shore of Lake Huron, and Montreal. The southern shore of James Bay is located at the top centre of the map, the northern shores of Lake Huron along the bottom left hand edge, and Montreal is marked in the south eastern corner of the map. The modern border between Ontario and Quebec runs vertically approximately down the centre of the map from James Bay to Lake Timiskaming and then along the Ottawa river (marked) to Montreal.
