In religion hewas a devoted member of the Baptist married Phoebe Rhodes, in 1838, and bythat union had a family of eight children :David, Ruth, Charles, John E., the subjectof this sketch ; Samuel, a member of thefirm of Finley Brothers ; William A., whosesketch appears elsewhere in this work;James, and Albert.
