Germany, Eisenach: Painting with saint Elisabeth and the "rose wonder" in the museum of Wartburg castle
Saint Elisabeth was the wife of Landgrave Ludwig II. She was a hungarian princess and dedicated her life after the early death of the king to take care for the poor. She is connected with certain wonders like the rose wonder, where the bread for the poor transformed in roses, when her husband asked her what she was carrying under her cope. The landgrave didn´t like her to distribute bread and food. So she told :" It´s only roses, Sir" and really the bread was transformed in roses.
