5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (Sept. 19, 2017) Sailors assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) pull a cable connected to an AN/SLQ-25C NIXIE torpedo countermeasure system during scheduled maintenance. America is the flagship for the America Amphibious Ready Group and, with the embarked 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, is deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the 5th Fleet area of operations.
