Metoject chemotherapy drug solution for injection. The active ingredient in Metoject is methotrexate (amethopterin or MTX). It used to treat various cancers: breast, head, neck, leukaemia, lymphoma, lung, osteosarcoma, bladder and trophoblastic neoplasms. It is also used for autoimmune diseases, ectopic pregnancy and for the induction of abortions. This antimetabolite and folate inhibitor is a cytotoxic drug because it interferes with the DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) genetic material in cancer cells, causing cell death.
