Mr. Wise vas a man of u nlimited energ> and Jesse Hook was born on a farm (now EastWaynesburg) in the year 18tX), He died in 1870. was the first president of the Farmers andDrovers Bank. He was a large land owner: at onetime he owned two thousand acres near probably gave employment to more people of thissection than any other man of his day. Mr. Hook was a member of the first official boardof directors of the college.
