A portrait of Fatty Arbuckle in 1917 with a printed silent film review. --- Roscoe Conkling "Fatty" Arbuckle (1887-1933) was an American silent film actor, comedian, director, and screenwriter with the Selig Polyscope Company and later Keystone Studios. Arbuckle was the defendant in three widely publicized trials in the 1920's whene he was \ccused of the rape and manslaughter of actress Virginia Rappe. The famous silent film star Buster Keaton spoke in his defence Buster Keaton testified for the defense in his third trial when he was aquitted with an apology.
