One of three trials was ordered in 1939 from ASEA AB Swedish railway workshops, Asj, in Falun, Motala workshop and Nydqvist and Holm AB, Nohab. The locomotive was delivered in 1942 and was numbered 601-603. In the three test locations, various types of power transmission and running axis constructs were tested.
