Great Exhibition of 1851. Artwork of the British Nave of The Great Exhibition, held in Hyde Park, London, UK, from May to October 1851. The building housing the exhibits, which was later moved to South London, was destroyed by fire in 1936. The Great Exhibition contained 100,000 exhibits from around the world, half being from Britain and the British Empire. Over six million visited the exhibition. Artwork by Joseph Nash (1809-1878) from 'Dickinson's comprehensive pictures of the Great Exhibition of 1851' (1854), a 2-volume collection of 55 lithographs of the exhibition.
