Aviation ordnancemen from Fighter Squadron 142 (VF-142) arm one of their squadron's F-14A Tomcat aircraft on the flight deck of the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN-69). In the foreground is a box of stabilizing fins for the AIM-7 Sparrow missiles on the weapons skid directly behind the box. An AIM-9 Sidewinder missile is on the skid at left. The EISENHOWER is one of the Navy ships sent to the Persian Gulf in response to Iraq's invasion of Kuwait.
