London, UK, 6th October 2016. Geraldine Denning. lead architect of Architects for Social Housing holds up a postcard as she speaks outside the RIBA Stirling Prize award showing where people had been forced to move to out of London for buidling one of the shortlisted projects, Trafalgar Place. It was built on the demolished Heygate Estate, which campaigners say was 'stolen from the people'; hundreds of social housing tenants and leaseholders were evicted and the site sold at one tenth of its value to the developers. ASH held its own ceremony outside, and after a number of speeches awarded the 'O J Simpson Award for getting away with murder' to drMM Architects for this project. There are many other similar acts of 'social cleansing' by London Labour councils replacing social housing by properties for the wealthy and overseas investors. Peter Marshall/Alamy Live News
