HONG KONG Central District Man Mo Temple


Spiral cones of incense hanging from roof of the Man Mo or warlord temple. The warlord god is Kwan Tai and is patron of both police and gangsters. A historical figure from the Three Kingdoms period (AD 220-265) he was deified as a Taoist symbol of integrity and loyalty. The temple is dedicated jointly to Kwan Tai and the god of literature.
