A view of Downtown Akureyri Iceland with local ferry terminal and Akureyrarkirkja in the centre ground. Akureyri lies at the head of Eyjafjordur Fjord.

Morning shot of Downtown Akureyri. The clock on the Akureyrarkirkja shows the time as 10:35 on a bright sunny morning. The Akureyrarkirkja was built in 1940 and has many fine stain glass windows displaying scenes from Icelandic Christian history. The town is the 5th largest Municipality in Iceland gaining it's charter in 1786 from King Christian VII.
