Corona constellation, 15th century artwork. Engraving of Corona (the Crown), with Latin text. This constellation is now known as Corona Borealis (the Northern Crown), to distinguish it from the Southern Crown constellation that was discovered later. The black asterisks show the position of the stars that make up this constellation. This artwork is from the 1482 edition of Hyginus's Poeticon Astronomicon (Poetic Astronomy). This 1st-century BC star atlas was republished several times in the medieval period with woodcut engravings of the stars and constellations.
