Durants family. was at one time Vice-Prasldent andGeneral Manager of the Union Pacific Rail-road. The roof of the vault is of yellow glarsand at certain times of the day, whe-i the suastrikes it, the reflections on the Interior aresimply beyond conception. In the vault aieseveral elegant pieces of statuary, the centerone representing the image of Jesus, over 63. M>Li>xii:B>!i ,noAi\Mi::vT. which two angels are holding a crown. Itis upon this figure that the varied lights fall. Situated on one of the highest points onOcean Hill, stands the handsomest mausoleumin the country. It is that of John W. is of granite, and is very massive, and wasbuilt in memory of a favorite son, the cost be-ing over $300,000. The roof is cut out of onesolid piece of granite. (See cut). The Gilsey mausoleum is another handsomepiece of art, being very massive and built ofchoice granite. It is located on Atlantic Ave-nue. An excellent view of the surroundingcountry can be ha,d from this point. William J. Lyons mausoleum, on MapleAvenue and Andronoda Path, is well worthy ofa visit. On Battle Avenue stands a granite shafterected to the memory of George H. B-rrett,the once famous actor. Facing Fern Avenue is a costly granitecolumn erected in memory of Thomas Free-born, a New York pilot. It represents the shipJohn Minturn, in
