(Plate 3.) 1 would like to point out in passing that we have taken a series of temperaturesin the filter, and find that the temperature of the air taken about 4 feet above thefilter has seldom fallen below 36 degrees Fahr. in the coldest winter weather. Thismay have some bearing on the efficiency of the filter. You will see from the above that this experiment has proven a success, and ithas an advantage over any other filter medium in cost. I am attaching a copy of Dr. Adams report of the analysis of the effluents fromJune, 1914, to October, 1916, inclusive. You will note that the effluent from thebrush filter is in some respects only slightly inferior to that from the slag filter, which has been kept under observation alongside of it. However, this latter oneis only worked at the rate of 2,000,000 gallons per acre per
