Reserve Citizen Airmen from the 312 Airlift Squadron make preparations on board a C-5M Super Galaxy during Exercise Nexus Rising at Travis Air Force Base, California, June 4, 2022. Nexus Rising is a readiness exercise designed to test the ability of the 349th Air Mobility Wing to generate, employ and sustain air operations in a simulated combat environment. Missions include air rescue, aeromedical evacuation, airlift for cargo and personnel, aerial refueling, deployment processing, aerial port operations, and command and control. Reserve Citizen Airmen from the 349th Air Mobility Wing, Soldiers from the California Army Guard's 49th Military Police Brigade, and California Air National Guard's 129th Rescue Wing are participating in the exercise. Nexus Rising is a three-day joint combat readiness exercise that challenges Airmen and Soldiers to effectively deploy and operate in a contested, degraded environment.
