Picture by Roger Bamber: 3 April 2003: The Victorian skeleton of iron framework of the fire gutted Theatre at the end of Brightons' Grade 1 listed West pier stands out against the setting sun. The pier designed by Eugenius Birch in 1866 was thought to have been hit by an Arson attack on 28 March after planning permission was granted for full restoration on 27 February.
