Its large trusses of white flowers are followed in summer by an abundance of brilliant orange-scarlet berries, which, remaining on the plants through- out the winter, produce a gorgeous effect. Strong pot-grown plants, 15 to 18 inches high, $ each. Pyi*VlS (Cydonia or Japan Quince) Japonicus. A very showy and popular Shrub, of medium height which blooms profusely in early spring; flowers dazzling scarlet. Makes an excellent hedge. 60 cts. each. RhodotypUS (White Kerria) Kerrioides. A very ornamental Japanese Shrub of medium size, which succeeds well in sun or shade, with pretty foliage and large single white flowers the latter part of May. 60 cts. each. RHUS (Sumac) Cotinus {Purple Fringe, or Smoke Tree). A low, shrubby tree, covered in mid-summer with large clusters of feathery flowers, giving the appearance of a cloud of smoke or mist. 75 cts. each. Typhina Laciniata {Cut-leaved Staghorn Sumac). The leaves are beautifully cut like a delicate fern and in fall assume the most brilliant colors, this combined with its showy clusters of crimson fruit makes it a most valuable subject either as a single specimen or for mass planting. 75 cts. each.
