Retired COL Gail S. Halvorsen stands in a hangar at Tempelhof Central Airport in front of a C-54 Skymaster aircraft. Halvorsen, a pilot during the Berlin Airlift, became known as the "Rosinen (raisin) Bomber" for his practice of dropping candy to children who were lined up to watch aircraft landing at Tempelhof, West Berlin, 6/23/1988.
