Stormont Buildings, Belfast
Stormont Buildings where opened by Edward, Prince of Wales (later King Edward VIII) on 16 November 1932. Located in the Stormont area of Belfast, it has served as the seat of the Parliament of Northern Ireland and successive Northern Ireland assemblies and conventions. During the second World War the buildings Portland stone was painted black using a paint made from bitumen and cow manure. This proved more difficult to remove than anticipated and traces of it can still be found on the building.
