Antique Chinese Export Pith Painting of the Daoguang Emperor. 19th Century, Qing Dynasty
Lovely 19th century Chinese pith painting of the Emperor Daoguang seated on a throne, wearing an elaborate dragon robe and with jade sceptre in his left hand. Nice quality painting with fine details all around done in the manner of Youqua. In very good condition with minor marks, splits and warping consistent with age. Framed and glazed. Last photo shows comparison with a lithograph by Charles Hullmandel – published in 1841 book China by Samuel Kidd – that identifies this figure as Daoguang (道光).
