A Military Order of St. James of the Sword (Ordem Militar de Sant'Iago da Espada) Decoration of the Order in the fourth version from 1910, the time of the Portuguese Republic, awarded for exceptional merit in science, literature and the arts. The collar of the order consists of ten cross and twelve laurel wreath links with appended jewel in silver-gilt issue and maker's signet of the Frederico G. Da Costa firm in Lisbon.
