Air Force Maj. Jay Heide, a pilot with the 906th Air Refueling Squadron, waits while the KC-135 is refueled during a hot refuel on Aug. 11, 2021, at the 33rd Powidz Airlift Base, Republic of Poland. This is the first ever hot refuel of a KC-135 in Eastern Europe. During a hot refuel the KC-135 leaves one jet engine running, this allows for faster turnaround so the KC-135 can return to the air to refuel more jets.
