FORT DRUM, – Spc. Gabriel Hitchcock, an infantry team leader with 2nd Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (LI), conducts a “FitCheck” of his hearing protection prior to firing an M3 Multi-Role Anti-Armor Anti-Personnel Weapon System (MAAWS) during a training event near Fort Drum, Aug. 22. Hitchcock, along with other members of his unit, was participating in a Army Public Health Command sponsored study to determine the effects of firing large decibel weapons have on hearing and the effectiveness of hearing protection being used.
