As there is no harbour within a great distance of it, either on the southern or western coast of Australia, which offers such advantages as King George's Sound, colonists were sent there from Sydney as early as 1826; and this settlement has been of great advantage to the colony of Swan is very conveniently situated for the purposes of refreshment and refitting vessels bound to New South Wales and Van Diemen's friendly to settlers'.
