Cromer Pier was built in 1900-1 for the Cromer Protection Commissioners, after the destruction of the old jetty in 1897. It is a short structure, on iron girders, This new pier was designed by Douglass and Arnott and the construction was carried out by Alfred Thorne. It is 450 feet (140 m) long with a pavilion theatre with shaped roof at the sea end and a modern [1996] lifeboat house immediately behind the pavilion. The two entrance kiosks have been modernised, one accommodating the theatre booking office and the other an ice cream shop. .
