Fully two-thirds is comprisedin high mountains and foot-hills, the remainingthird being undulating prairies over 5,000 feetabove sea level, and which to-day are occupiedfor agricultural and pastoral purposes. Yet, inthe higher mountains, we find in the fertile, nar-row valleys of Elk, Cub, Deer, Bear and BeaverCreeks, numerous farms where the hardier veg-etables, potatoes, oats, wheat and barley, thriveto perfection ; while the dairy products of but-ter and cheese and rich milk cannot be excelledanywhere, and the fat beef of mountain farmssuperior in tenderness and flavor.
