After renovation in 1889, the imperial family inaugurated their own villa, which Maria Feodorovna (Danish Dagmar) called: Our dear miniature "Gatchina". Danish King Christian d. 9 and Queen Louise gathered all their children and children-in-law in Fredensborg in the summer. Emperor Alexander III now owned his own residence in Fredensborg. Alexander was so happy with the villa that he had a picture of the villa included in the Fabergé egg he gave Empress Dagmar at Easter 1890. The egg is called in English: "Danish Palace's egg". The third picture in the Fabergé egg shows the Emperor's Villa. In 1891, Emperor Alexander and Dagmars's eldest boy (the later Tsar Nikolai) had seen names being engraved in glass at Fredensborg Castle. Inspired by this, he scratched his name in a window in the "Kejser Villaen" orangery with a diamond ring. With him was also Prince George of Wales, who scratched "Georgie" in the window. And Princess Maud of Wales, who scratched: "Harry". (Her nickname was Harry). Thus, the future Tsar of Russia, the future King of England and the future Queen of Norway have engraved their names in Alexander and Dagmar's orangery.
