Viewed from above, fig. 1,we see that which corresponds to the body part ofthe lobster, with the mouth and eyes in the centerof the rounded edge. The sides of thisportionend in two sharp points. Turning the erab over,we see in tig. 2, how the legs are attached. The twoforward ones are, as in the lobster, enlarged toform claws or nippers, while the rear pair are thinand broad, to aid the animal in swimming, and arecalled flippers. The part corresponding to the tail of the lobster is very small and inconspicu-ous in the erab, and is closely bent uuder the body,as seen in the engraving. It hasmuch the appearauce of the tuck of a pocket-book. In the female, theeggs are carried under this are caught in shallow water bymeans of nets, and in deep water bybaiting a net stretched over a hoopwith meat, which is quite as goodfor this purpose if it has passed thepoint at which it i
