Jamaica Inn was made famous by the writer Daphne du Maurier's novel with the same title and made into films and television dramas. That was a story of widespread smuggling in the local area. The inn has a Daphne du Maurier museum attached with a collection of private letters and other artifacts associated with her life. There is also displays of exhibits associated with the smuggling trade. 10th August
