The town of Cáseda is of medieval origin, and was strategically located on a hill, next to the Aragón river, on the border with the Kingdom of Aragon. It was built as a defensive hamlet. Remains of a rampart and a tower can still be found on one of the sides of the main square. There was a castle. During the Napoleonic invasion, groups of Javier de Mina's guerrillas passed through Cáseda, gathering a total of 500 infantry and 100 cavalry in Cáseda in 1810.
