Dethick, Garter, 15 April, 2d and 3d Philipand Mary (1556), viz.: Arms: Sable, on a chevron argent between three crossespattee fltchee, or, as many escallops, gules; on a chief of thethird, a dragons head and wings, gules, between two battle axes,azure. Crest: A cubit arm erect, vested bendy wavy, or, andpurple, cuff, argent—the hand proper grasping a broken baton,sable, tipped argent (See Plate III.) This coat-of-arms, containing the crosses pattee fitchee andthe escallop shells, with the dragons head and wings and battleaxes, was clearly made up
