The facilities were part of the Royal Naval Supply and Transport Service and employed more than 700 people for over 50 years in Wiltshire. It was adjacent to RAF Rudloe Manor which was known as Britain’s ‘Area 51’ since declassified secret files released at the National Archives indicated the site was the centre for UFO investigations in the 1950s.
