Seal-skins are an important article of 56 WOOD S NATURAL HISTORY commerce and the seal-fishery is largely carried onalong the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador andalso on the islands off the coast of Alaska. Thefur in its natural state is yellowish, spotted, andmarked with brown, and is unfit for use until it isdyed.
