King Mangrai (1239-1311) was the 25th King of Ngoen Yang () and the first King of Chiang Mai (), capital of the Lanna Kingdom (1296-1558). Wat Phra Singh or to give it its full name, Wat Phra Singh Woramahaviharn, was first constructed around 1345 by King Phayu, 5th king of the Mangrai Dynasty.
