Finished IntBriok—Musiihoum Svstbm. Inventor and Patentee of the Mushroom System of Reinforced Concrete Construction, thepractical Flat Slab supported directly on columns without the intervention of Engineering Work: Bridges, Buildings and Dams. Advantages. (1) The floor slabs are built so as to transport the load directly to the columns without the use ofbeams and girders and take full advantage of the extraordinary strength developed by slabs reinforcedin several directions. Mushroom System floors are more economical for heavy loadings than anyother construction. (2) The centering is simplified, thusreducing the cost of the temporary partsof the construction. (3) The beams and girders, whichinterfere with light, cost money to plasterand finish, and reduce the clear storeyheight, are eliminated. The arrangementof the reinforcement is designed to securea maximum efficiency of the material andplace the maximum amount of steelaround and over the tops of columnswhere s
