THE WEDDING OF BRYNHILD AND GUNNAR Early on the morning of the tenth day, the watch-man on the tower called out that many people werecoming over the mountains. Then the kings rodeout to meet Brynhild and her attendants. Brynhild rode alone in a golden wagon drawn bysnow-white oxen. She sat on a carved-ivory seat,covered with dark blue bench cloths. She salutedthe Niblungs, and they rode together to the kingshouse. When they arrived at the gate, she stoodup and blessed the house of Gunnar. The tall war.
