VANCOUVER, BC, CANADA - February 2, 2014. In the Downtown Eastside neighbourhood of Vancouver, a sign warns methadone users that as of February 1, 2014, the formula being administered is 10 times stronger than the previous one. The change to a new formula, called Methadose, was created by the Provincial Ministry of Health. Methadone is a pharmaceutical drug used to treat addiction to heroin and other opioid drugs. The Ministry stated that warning posters were being installed throughout the province to inform users who may be unaware of the potency change.
